ABOUT KEVIN

So who is Kevin Bourne?

Born and raised in Toronto, I moved to Ottawa almost four years ago, partly to live out my dream of working in Parliament. My life in Ottawa reflects the reality that dreams change and what brings you to a city may not be what keeps you there. I came because of my political science degree, my bilingualism, and the abundant opportunities in the federal government. Now that I've transitioned out of Parliament, what keeps me in Ottawa is the drive to see the city grow as an economic and creative centre.

My life so far has taken me through a variety of experiences and has allowed me to experience a number of industries and sectors- music, fashion, media, government, church, retail, law, finance, and more. As someone who considers himself both left brained and right brained, my goal over the coming years is to marry my love for media, communications, and all around creativity, with my love for business and organization, in order to help foster the economic and creative growth our city is capable of.

Since moving to Ottawa I've developed a love for media, including television, film, video, the web, and magazines. I've also developed a love for city-building and urbanism and an appreciation for how different industries help to bring growth and vitality to a city and region. This is what excites me about Ottawa. There is so much room for growth and so many opportunities to participate in a big way.

I'm a firm believer in big dreams, believing for the impossible, and taking bold steps to make those dreams a reality, whether as an individual or as a city. I've decided I don't want a mundane life, nor do I want a mundane city. I don't want to grow old, look back at my life, and regret that my dreams were never fulfilled or that I didn't at least try.

So that's me. Creative yet organizational and strategic. A dreamer yet an analyzer and doer. That's Kevin Bourne.
